We opt for Trader Joe’s brand frozen potatoes that already contain green peppers and onions to make our air fryer frozen home fries in less than 20 minutes because these lovely precooked potatoes are already seasoned making weeknight cooking even easier.

We eat a lot of potatoes in our home simply because they are a super versatile side that goes with a plethora of meals. Dress them up or dress them down, potatoes are a home cook’s best friend.
Today we are working with precooked frozen potatoes. These lovely roasted potatoes with peppers and onions from Traders Joes are the best! Precooked and preseasoned, they make cooking air fryer frozen potatoes so quick and easy.
The hardest part of this air fryer frozen diced potatoes recipe is deciding if we are going to make them for breakfast and serve our home fries with a side of eggs and air fryer bacon, or if it’s going to be served for dinner with air fryer brats or air fryer steak tips.

Air Fryer Frozen Diced Potatoes Ingredients
All you need to make air fryer frozen potatoes is just a single ingredient – a bag of your favorite frozen diced potatoes.
- frozen diced potatoes – Any brand will work including Trader Joe’s or OreIda. If your frozen diced potatoes do not come seasoned, you will want to grab your favorite options.

- An Air Fryer- We have a Cosori XL basket style air fryer, a Ninja Foodi pressure cooker & air fryer combo, an Instant Pot Omni Plus oven style air fryer, an Instant Pot air fryer lid, and a small 3.2L Farberware basket style air fryer. The Cosori unit was used in this recipe.
- Non-stick spatula
- Rubbed tipped tongs
How to Air Fry Frozen Diced Potatoes
Just like the ingredients list is simple, the cooking steps for your air fryer frozen potatoes are just as easy. Load your air fryer basket (but don’t overcrowd it), cook in a preheated air fryer, shake, and finish cooking. It’s so simple, you could even get your kids started in the kitchen making this frozen potatoes in air fryer recipe.
Air Fryer Temperature
You are going to cook your air fryer frozen home fries in a preheated 400F air fryer.
While most units have a preheat feature if yours does not simply allow it to run for 5 minutes at 400F to come up to temperature.
How long to cook frozen potatoes in air fryer?
Add the precooked frozen diced potatoes to the air fryer basket, making sure to spread them out in an even layer. How much you’ll be able to cook at one time will depend on your air fryer capacity.
The air fryer frozen home fries will take about 12+ minutes in total to air fry. Cook them for 6 minutes on one side and then shake the basket or flip the diced potatoes over before continuing to. Cook them an additional 6 minutes, or until they’re heated through and browned. In the Cosori they were cooked through after about 8 minutes but we cooked them longer to crisp up.
Serve with eggs on top for breakfast or for dinner as a side dish. Enjoy!

- Your home fried potatoes are done when they have been warmed through, but we prefer to cook them until they crisp up.
- Air fryers can vary in watts, the Cosori has 1600 watts. If your air fryer basket or air fryer oven has less or a higher amount of watts the potatoes could take more time or less time to cook, correspondingly.

Store leftover air fryer potatoes O Brien in an air tight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. Potatoes can also be frozen for up to 3 months and air fried from frozen to reheat them.

- The recipe was tested using a Cosori XL 5.8 QT air fryer, half a bag (about 12 oz) of frozen diced home fries potatoes were able to fit in the bottom of the air fryer. You’ll need to cook the potatoes in batches if you want to make the entire bag.
