air fryer chickpeas recipe steps

Temperature

Preheat an air fryer to 400 F for 5 minutes.

Drain the can of chickpeas (garbanzo beans) and rinse them. There’s no need to blot them dry with paper towels cooking them in an air fryer.

Spread the can of chickpeas in the bottom of the air fryer basket. Make sure they are in a single layer. If you have a small air fryer you might only be able to cook ½ a can at a time.

Air Fryer Garbanzo Beans Cooking Time

The total cooking time for the recipe will be 16-17 minutes.

Cook the chickpeas for 5 minutes at 400 F and then shake the basket to stir the beans around. Continue cooking for 5 more minutes in the air fryer.

Remove the chickpeas from the basket and place them in a medium-sized bowl. Add the olive oil and garlic salt and toss to combine. Pour the seasoned chickpeas back into the air fryer and air fry for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until they are crispy to your liking.

Remove the roasted air fryer chickpeas and add more salt or another seasoning to taste.

Serve and enjoy!

Variations

Crispy Chickpeas in Air Fryer Recipe Tips

  • Be sure to drain the garbanzo beans before placing them in the air fryer. They do not need to be dried, but they do need to be drained.
  • Preheat your air fryer for 3-5 minutes before cooking to ensure your crispy air fryer chickpeas recipe begins cooking immediately.
  • Do not double this recipe as it’ll overcrowd the air fryer and the chickpeas won’t get as crispy.
