avocado fries in air fryer recipe steps

Mix the flour and seasoning in a small bowl.

In a second small bowl whisk eggs.

In a third small bowl pour the panko bread crumbs and add in the seasoning to include chili powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.

Set the three bowls aside.

Preheat the air fryer at 400 F for 5 minutes.

Cut the avocado in half lengthwise. Remove the pit and slice into ½ inch thick slices, cutting to the peel but not through it. Gently remove the slices from the peel. A large avocado makes 8-10 slices.

Dredge each avocado slice in flour mixture, then egg, and lastly in the panko bread crumbs and place in preheated air fryer basket.

Lightly spray slices with olive oil or avocado oil spray.

Air fry at 400 F for 7 minutes, and then add an additional 1-2 minutes to reach golden browned color.

Sprinkle with more salt before serving.

Variations

  • Spicy – Add chili pepper flakes to the panko breadcrumbs to create a spicier avocado fry.

How to Make Air Fryer Avocado No Breading

It’s super easy to make air fryer avocado no breading if don’t have breadcrumbs on hand or just want to skip it. With just an easy swap you can make low carb air fryer avocado fries super easily.

Just follow our recipe above but swap the panko breadcrumbs with more flour! Want to skip the flour? Use almond flour, oat flour, or your favorite gluten-free flour.

  • Dip the avocado in the seasoned flour
  • Then dip it in the beaten eggs
  • Then dip it a second time in the seasoned flour mix. So easy!

Cook’s Tips

  • For best results, choose avocados that are not-quite ripe to ripe, but never over ripe. The softer the flesh of the avocado, the softer your avocado fry will end up.
  • Don’t slice your avocados until you are ready to dredge and cook them.
  • Avoid overcrowding air fryer. The more room the avocado slices have, the more crispy they will become.
  • Keep an eye on avocado fries toward the end of cooking as they brown quickly.
  • It is helpful to whisk one egg, and then whisk the second egg when you need it, to avoid flour build up in your egg mixture.
  • This is an easy recipe to cut in half if you just want to cook 1 avocado. You might not be able to cut the dredging ingredients in half since they need to be well coated.
