Fire up your air fryer oven because it’s time to make frozen air fryer croissants. Not crescent rolls, but flaky, buttery, warm croissants that need to pronounce with a French accent and are best served with a side of jam. Ready in under 30-minutes (that’s less time than baking), our frozen croissants in air fryer recipe is a quick easy option for breakfast or dinner.
Croissant Air Fryer
There is just something magical about a warm croissant topped with jam that makes your morning cup of coffee seem somehow better. And while I could rise early to make pastry dough from scratch, I also know that I can grab a box of frozen Trader Joe’s mini croissants and pop them into my air fryer and have just about the same thing.
Generally served as a breakfast item in our home, frozen air fryer croissants are delicious when paired with a beautiful fruit jam and accompanied by fruit, eggs, and either bacon or sausage (like these air fryer breakfast sausage links)… oh, and that aforementioned cup of coffee.
However, you can also serve them for dinner in place of a traditional crescent roll… which these are not. Making these air fryer croissants are so super simple you are going to wonder why you never thought of air frying frozen croissants rather than baking them.

How to Air Fry Croissants
To make your air fryer Trader Joe’s Croissants (or any brand of frozen croissant) you simply need to cook your frozen pastry in a preheated air fryer, allowing them space, and flip halfway through. It’s truly an easy item for breakfast and perfect to get started even if that first sip of caffeine has yet to fully get you going.
Preheat an air fryer to 330 F for 3 minutes.
How long to air fry croissants?
Add as many frozen mini croissants as will fit in the air fryer basket or on the air fryer oven tray. The air fryer used to test this recipe was the Cosori XL model which perfectly held 4 frozen croissants from Trader Joes. Place the frozen croissants upside down in the air fryer basket, making sure to space them out 2″ apart for even browning.
The croissants will take about 13-15 minutes in total to air fry. Air fry the croissants at 330 F for 7 minutes and then flip them over so that they are face up. Continue air frying the croissants until they’re cooked through and golden brown, which will take an additional 6-8 minutes. Your air fryer could “flip” the croissants for you as they defrost since they’re so light!
Enjoy! Serve plain or with butter and jam.
Tips for Frozen Croissants Air Fryer
- If you skip preheating the air fryer, assume you’ll need to add an extra few minutes to the cooking time.
- This recipe has only been tested with the mini frozen croissant size, not full size frozen croissants.
- We were only able to fit 4 mini croissants in an air fryer at a time, you might be able to cook more at once depending on the size of your air fryer.
- Don’t forget to start the croissants top down in the air fryer to prevent the top from getting too brown during cooking.
- When the croissants were cooking top side down, as they defrosted they “flipped” themselves over during the cooking process since they were so light and the fan blew them over.
- These are actual croissants and not the crescent rolls from a tube. We used Trader Joe’s brand croissants but any brand of mini frozen croissants will work.
- A Cosori air fryer was used to test this recipe, which is 1600 watts. If your air fryer has either higher watts or less watts, it could take a little less time or a little longer to cook.
Common Questions
Yes, you can reheat croissants in an air fryer, it’s a much better method than using a microwave and quicker than the oven. To reheat the croissants in air fryer, place them in an air fryer basket or oven at 300 F air fryer for 1 minute or until warm.
Croissants will last 1-2 days at room temperature in a sealed container. Possibly a day or two longer in the fridge.
While both croissants and crescent rolls have a similar shape, croissants are a French pastry that is made from puff pastry and crescent rolls are packaged rolls that typically come in a tube. Crescent rolls are significantly denser than croissants and made from dough rather than puff pastry.
Cooking croissants from frozen in an air fryer is easy to do, plus there’s no need to defrost and proof the dough before air frying! Preheat an air fryer to 330 F for 3 minutes. Add the frozen croissants, making sure to leave at least 2″ between croissants to allow for rising. Air fry the croissants for 13-15 minutes, or until fluffy and golden brown.
