Substitutions

  • Our family’s favorite brand of breakfast sausage is Johnsonville, but any grocery store brand of sausage will work for this recipe.
  • This recipe will work for both fresh sausage links and frozen. To make air fryer frozen sausage links, just add a couple of minutes to the cooking time, until the internal temperature reaches at least 165 F.

Variations

  • You can make any variety of breakfast sausage links in your air fryer including maple, cayenne, and regular.

Breakfast Sausage Links Air Fryer Recipe Tips

  • AIR FRYER NOTE: If you have a basket style air fryer that doesn’t allow you to spread out your sausage links and allow room for air circulation on all sides, we do recommend you flip your sausages after 5 minutes to ensure they cook completely.
  • For best results allow your air fryer to preheat before adding in your sausage links.
  • Since the sausage is a high-fat food, you’ll want to make sure your fryer is clean on the inside, or else you could end up with the dreaded white smoke problem when the grease hits the bottom of the fryer.
  • Raw sausage links will need to be cooked to an internal temperature of 165F.
