To get the BEST bratwurst out there and do I say even better than the grill...first pressure cook the brats in beer in your Ninja Foodi and then finish them off by air frying them! Get juicy and perfectly browned all at the same time.
Add the bottle or can of beer to the bottom of the Ninja Foodi pressure cooker. Insert the rack.
Place the uncooked raw bratwurst on top of the rack.
Secure the Ninja Foodi pressure cooker lid onto the pot. Make sure the valve is set to Seal. Pressure cook the brats on High for 5 minutes. Turn off the pot, turn the valve to Vent by using a long-handled utensil like a wooden spoon, and do a quick release of the remaining pressure.
Once the pin drops remove the pressure cooker lid.
Pour out the beer in the bottom of the pot, this will help the bratwurst sausage to get more crispy. Add the pot with the brats in it and close the air fryer lid.
Set the air fryer to 370 F for 10 minutes and press the Air Crisp button.
After 5 minutes of cooking time, turn the bratwurst over and cook them for an additional 5+ minutes of cooking time, or until the internal temperature of the brats reaches 165 F with a digital meat thermometer or they're browned to your liking.
Ninja Foodi Air Fryer Brats (No Pressure Cook)
Insert the air fryer rack in the bottom of the Ninja Foodi pot. Add the brats.
Set the air fryer to 370 F for 12 minutes and press the Air Crisp button.
After 6 minutes, flip the bratwurst over and continue cooking them for an additional 6-8 minutes until they're browned to your liking and at least 165 F when checked with a digital meat thermometer.
Notes
Any standard size raw bratwurst will work, as will a variety of flavors like regular, cheddar, beer brats, etc.If you have the larger meat counter raw brats the cooking time will take longer, the time for that size has not been tested for this recipe. Best guess is to add 1-2 minutes to the pressure cooking time.If you don't want to use beer, chicken broth, water, or apple juice make good substitutes.Feel free to add sliced onions, cabbage, or sauerkraut to the pot and to make this a one dish meal. The recipe can be doubled if desired and it won't change the cooking time as long as the brats are still in a single layer on the pot.
