Season potatoes with a light coating of oil then a sprinkle of salt (optional but very much worth it!). Wrap the Russet potatoes in foil.
Place the seasoned potatoes in your air fryer basket or on the tray, leaving space between the potatoes for air to circulate.
Roast the potatoes for a total of 35-45, but flip after the first 20-25 minutes. You know your air fryer whole potatoes are done when a fork is able to easily pierce the potato to the center.
Serve with your favorite toppings including butter, sour cream, cheddar cheese, bacon, and/or chives.
Notes
For best results, and to ensure even cooking, use potatoes that are uniform in size.
We do recommend that you preheat your air fryer for at least 5 minutes prior to cooking. Doing so allows the unit to come up to temperature and begin cooking your air fryer whole baked potatoes as soon as they go it.
Whether you add foil or don't, the ooking time will be the same.
To ensure even cooking in your air fryer, leave space between your potatoes during the cooking process. If you have a smaller unit, or are cooking several potatoes, you may need to cook in batches.
We did find that flipping your potatoes after the first 20-25 minutes of cooking gave us the best cooked baked potatoes.
